Kennel Gate - Half Slotted

Half-slotted kennel gates are the most economic option while also reducing fence-fighting!

The lower ½ of the kennel door is solid to reduce gate aggression, while the upper ½ is slotted. We learned years ago that having the lower half of the gate solid greatly reduces fence-fighting. The more timid dogs can duck behind the solid portion; while the more aggressive dogs will still stand up to look around, they will eventually get tired and lay down.

The gate is where everything happens in a dog kennel. That is why our gates are designed to take the abuse, are easy to clean, and have useful features built-in! The gates are constructed from rugged ½" thick HDPE Plastic or High Density PolyEthelyne, which is a common plastic used on playgrounds and in public restrooms as stall dividers. We chose to use this material because it was designed to be easy to clean - which is essential for a commercial dog kennel! Many other kennel manufacturers try to use welded wire, chainlink or a laminated material (with a cheaper inner core) - but we found those types of materials just don't last. Welded wire or chainlink have weak-spots that the dogs exploit to either damage the kennel or escape! Our gates start out from a solid piece of material and we cut the holes into it. We also have a much thicker 'webbing' between the slots to provide even more strength. Most of the laminates have a softer material like a foam or even wood as their cheaper core material and they just do not belong in a kennel facility. Our gates are made from the same material that is used in commercial kitchens as cutting-boards, so it is designed to get abused - and being solid throughout - the dogs will never scratch through to a softer core!

The gate latch is the weakest point on a kennel. That is why we spent years developing a latch that will hold up to the rigors of the industry. From the small dogs that try to squirt out the bottom to the big dogs that push on the top of the gate, we needed a latch to hold them all! That is why our kennel gates feature a latch with 4 attach-points: more than anyone else in the industry! These extra latch-areas spread the forces the dogs put on the latch so that any one point is not taking the full brunt of the forces. Additionally, the latch will not hold dog hair or urine - which is the biggest causes of latches to fail over time! Our open-loop latch allows the hair, urine, and water to fall right through - keeping the latch clear of debris that might cause it to wear out prematurely. Learn more about our kennel gate latch here.
